Steven Curley, MD

North Texas Distinguished Surgical Oncologist
Dr. Curley comes to Northeast Texas in 2018 from the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center in Houston, Texas where he was the local and regional director of oncology, as well as a professor and chief of surgical oncology at the Baylor College of Medicine.
From 1990 through 2013 he was professor of surgical oncology and chief of gastrointestinal. When not seeing patients or teaching, Dr. Curley dedicates the remainder of his time to developing world-class multidisciplinary care programs for patients with all types of cancers through basic, translational, and clinical research efforts. His clinical focus is on providing surgical care for a wide range of hard-to-treat cancers, including but not limited to patients with hepatobiliary and gastrointestinal malignancies.

- Bile duct resections for hilar (Klatskin) and gallbladder cholangiocarcinoma

- Irreversible electroporation of unresectable liver and pancreas cancers

- Low anterior resection and abdominoperineal resection for rectal cancers
- Microwave ablation of unresectable liver cancers
- Pancreaticoduodenectomy (Whipple) for adenocarcinoma and neuroendocrine tumors
- Partial and total gastrectomy (stomach) for polyps, cancer, and carcinoids
- Resection of gastrointestinal stoma tumors (GIST)
- Resection of retroperitoneal and extremity sarcomas
- Small bowel resections for malignant tumors (adenocarcinoma or carcinoids)
