Victor Bautista-Hernandez, MD, PhD

Victor Bautista-Hernandez, MD, PhD, joined the Heart Center at CHRISTUS Children’s as a cardiothoracic surgeon in January 2021. He is an Associate Professor with Baylor College of Medicine with expertise in congenital heart surgery, including neonatal and adult congenital surgery, assist devices and lung and heart transplantation.
Most recently, Dr. Bautista served as Director of the Congenital Heart Surgery Program and Associate Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Complejo Hospitalario Universitario A Coruña, Spain. Dr. Bautista received his medical degree and his PhD from Universidad de Murcia, Spain.
He completed a three-year fellowship training at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard Medical School. He is certified by the European Board of Cardiothoracic Surgery and is an active member of major surgical associations, including AATS, STS, EACTS and SECCE.
He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed papers which accumulate more than 1,000 citations in PubMed.
