CHRISTUS Virtual Biobank (CVB)

Developments in genomics, proteomics and metabolomics are driving novel research needs to identify new possible molecular biomarkers for diagnosis, prognosis and targets for treatment of many diseases. To all these biomedical and translational research developments, large numbers of high-quality biospecimen with rich clinical and pathological datasets are needed. CVB is a unique service offering to help advance meaningful biomedical research for improved patient care. CVB creates a system-wide intrinsic capacity for procurement of high-quality human biospecimens and associated comprehensive clinical and pathological datasets.

Archival Bank: Offers access to high-quality, annotated, formalin-fixed-paraffin-embedded (FFPE) tissues, and H&E slides, from Pathology departments for research purposes on a fee-for-sample basis.

4U Bank: Offers access to high-quality, annotated biospecimens for research purposes at a client facility on a fee-for-sample basis.

Purpose

  • To offer CHRISTUS patients with voluntary donation opportunities of their valuable biospecimens to advance biomedical research
  • To serve physicians, and scientists via provision of access to reliable annotated biospecimens for translational and clinical research projects
  • To bring together CHRISTUS physicians and non-CHRISTUS scientists so they can collaboratively design and lead sophisticated research initiatives
  • To become a resource of choice for local, national and international biopharmaceutical companies and academic centers by providing them access to our cache of valuable biospecimens
