Dr. Dean completed his General Surgery residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, where he received awards for outstanding intern, outstanding junior resident, and outstanding chief resident. Upon completing his residency training in 1996, he joined SETSA and has been happily in Beaumont ever since. Dr. Dean is Board-Certified in General Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Dean is also specially trained in robotic surgery, performing even the most complex general surgeries in Southeast Texas. Dr. Dean is a skilled Bariatric surgeon with CHRISTUS Southeast Texas Bariatric Center, which is an Aetna Institute of Quality Bariatric Surgery designation. Dr. Dean and Dr. Jerome Schrapps of the center are experienced in minimally invasive and laparoscopic surgical procedures for long-term weight loss.
