CHRISTUS St. Vincent offers Endoscopic Ultrasounds, or EUS. This advanced endoscopic procedure allows the physician to examine beyond the lining of the gastrointestinal tract by using an endoscope with an ultrasound probe on the tip. The camera on the endoscope's tip allows the physician to see the lining of the gastrointestinal tract, while the ultrasound provides information on structures beyond the lining such as the pancreas, the biliary duct, the spleen, the liver, blood vessels and lymph nodes. EUS is important for the diagnosis of diseases such as pancreatic cancer, pancreatitis, biliary stones and tumors.
In addition, EUS allows the physician to examine the layers of the gastrointestinal tract, which helps in the diagnosis and management of diseases such as rectal cancer, esophageal cancer and gastric cancer. EUS is a state-of-the-art procedure and is performed by our highly skilled clinicians.
