The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio’s transport teams offer a high level of expertise on each and every transport. Available every day, around the clock, the transport team are comprised of clinical experts with extensive maternal and pediatric critical care experience.
When seconds count, community physicians and parents can rely on our specialized and dedicated maternal and pediatric transport teams to bring mothers to be and children in desperate need of specialized health care to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio.
More than 800 neonatal and pediatric patients are transferred to The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio each year from a 90-county area and more than 50 local and regional hospitals, clinics, and other medical facilities. As a tertiary facility staffed by some of Texas’ leading specialists, our Children’s Hospital transports and cares for the majority of critical neonates, infants, and children. Helicopters, fixed-wing aircraft, or ambulances are utilized to facilitate rapid response. Physician consultation and transport teams are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Neonatal and Pediatric Transport Teams offer free education to our referring facilities.
The teams can be requested through The Children’s Hospital of San Antonio “ONE CALL DOES IT ALL” line that streamlines the process of consulting with one of our pediatric specialists and arranging transfer to our facility if necessary.
Our Emergency Transport Teams are capable of transporting critically ill neonates and infants and pediatric patients ranging from small infants to adolescents suffering from a wide variety of illnesses and injuries.
