Meet Divyank Patel, MD
Advancing Heart Care Through Interventional Cardiology and Evidence-Based Treatment
Divyank Patel, MD, is a fellowship-trained interventional cardiologist bringing advanced cardiovascular expertise to East Texas. After earning his medical degree from Pramukhswami Medical College, Dr. Patel completed Internal Medicine residency training at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso, followed by a Cardiovascular Disease fellowship at LSU Health Shreveport, where he served as Chief Fellow. He then completed specialized Interventional Cardiology fellowship training at the University at Buffalo. His career has focused on improving outcomes for patients with complex cardiovascular disease through advanced catheter-based therapies, clinical research and patient-centered cardiovascular care. His addition to CHRISTUS Trinity Clinic in Longview expands access to highly specialized heart and vascular services close to home for East Texas patients.
Career at a Glance
- Fellowship-trained in interventional cardiology following advanced subspecialty training in cardiovascular disease.
- Served as Chief Fellow during Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship training at LSU Health Shreveport.
- Published author and presenter with research spanning coronary interventions, peripheral vascular disease, spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD), cardiovascular outcomes and procedural complications.
- Presented research at national cardiovascular meetings, including Transcatheter Cardiovascular Therapeutics (TCT).
- Multilingual physician with proficiency in English, Gujarati, Hindi, and Spanish.
Clinical Role and Leadership
As an interventional cardiologist, Dr. Patel specializes in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular disease using minimally invasive, catheter-based techniques. His advanced training in both general cardiology and interventional cardiology allows him to evaluate complex heart conditions, determine the most effective treatment options and perform procedures designed to restore blood flow and improve heart function. His leadership experience as Chief Fellow and his extensive academic background support a collaborative, evidence-based approach that strengthens cardiovascular care for patients throughout East Texas.
He provides specialized care for conditions such as:
- Coronary artery disease (CAD)
- Heart attacks (myocardial infarction)
- Peripheral artery disease (PAD)
- Chest pain and angina
- Spontaneous coronary artery dissection (SCAD)
- Vascular blockages requiring catheter-based intervention
- Cardiovascular conditions requiring diagnostic cardiac catheterization
What You Can Expect from Care with Dr. Patel
Patients can expect a physician who emphasizes evidence-based medicine, takes complex cardiovascular concerns seriously and works closely with them to understand their condition and treatment options. His research on rare cardiovascular presentations and procedural outcomes highlights a commitment to individualized care and clinical excellence.
You can expect:
- Thorough cardiovascular evaluation and risk assessment
- Clear explanations of diagnostic findings and treatment options
- Evidence-based recommendations tailored to your condition
- Access to minimally invasive interventional therapies when appropriate
- Collaborative care focused on improving long-term heart health
Advanced Diagnostic and Interventional Cardiology Care
Dr. Patel's specialized fellowship training in Interventional Cardiology provides expertise in advanced catheter-based procedures used to diagnose and treat cardiovascular disease. Interventional cardiology offers minimally invasive alternatives to many traditional surgical approaches, often resulting in shorter recovery times and faster return to daily activities.
His training and academic work have focused on areas including:
- Diagnostic cardiac catheterization
- Coronary angiography
- Percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI)
- Coronary stenting
- Management of complex coronary artery disease
- Peripheral vascular interventions
- Evaluation and treatment of vascular access complications
Research, Clinical Insight, and Thought Leadership
Throughout his training, Dr. Patel has remained actively engaged in cardiovascular research and scholarly activity. His peer-reviewed publications have explored topics ranging from coronary artery disease and peripheral vascular interventions to spontaneous coronary artery dissection, cardiovascular risk factors, and procedural outcomes.
His published work includes:
- Research examining hospital readmissions following coronary and peripheral vascular interventions.
- A peer-reviewed publication addressing management of stent thrombosis and associated complications after coronary intervention.
- A nationally published analysis evaluating stroke risk factors in patients with alcohol use disorder and prediabetes.
- A case report highlighting spontaneous coronary artery dissection and fibromuscular dysplasia in younger patients.
- Contributions to a systematic review of rare aortic valve tumors.
His continued involvement in clinical research reflects a dedication to advancing cardiovascular knowledge and improving patient care through evidence-based medicine.
Commitment to Public Health and Health Equity
A recurring theme throughout Dr. Patel's research has been improving cardiovascular outcomes across diverse patient populations. His work has examined healthcare outcomes in the U.S.-Mexico border region, population-level cardiovascular risk factors, and strategies for reducing preventable complications following cardiovascular procedures. These efforts reflect an interest in improving the quality, accessibility and effectiveness of care for patients from a broad range of backgrounds and communities.
