Kurt Barger, DO, is an orthopedic surgeon with fellowship training in orthopedic trauma and advanced expertise in joint replacement (arthroplasty) at CHRISTUS Orthopedics & Sports Medicine Institute in Tyler, Texas. He cares for patients of all ages with complex fractures, revision joint replacements, and primary joint reconstructions in both emergency and planned surgical settings.

Dr. Barger is dedicated to helping patients restore mobility, relieve pain, and return to the activities they love – whether it’s walking without discomfort, playing with grandchildren, or enjoying an active lifestyle. He provides personalized, compassionate care for each patient, taking time to explain treatment options and guide them through recovery with clarity and confidence.

He completed his residency at Riverside University Health System and trained at top orthopedic institutions nationwide, gaining recognition for his surgical expertise and contributions to research. With a commitment to excellence and a heart for service, Dr. Barger treats every patient like family, focusing on both physical healing and quality of life.

Outside of the operating room, Dr. Barger values family time and being on the water. Whether it’s wakeboarding, cruising around the lake, or just enjoying a quiet sunset on the boat, the lake has always been a place to recharge and stay connected to what matters most for him. He also enjoys working with his hands beyond surgery—home projects or learning something new. Dr. Barger appreciates craftsmanship and precision in all forms.
