A Message from the Fellowship Director

Howdy,

The CHRISTUS Health/Texas A&M University School of Medicine Program – Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship is a comprehensive and unique 12-month immersive experience in the great city of San Antonio! Our Fellowship is focused on providing high quality hands-on sports medicine experiences and developing intelligent, thoughtful, and capable Sports Medicine physicians.

The faculty group is composed of fellowship-trained physicians within the CHRISTUS Health System. We offer clinical rotations in both adult and pediatric sports and orthopedic clinics, with emphasis on point-of-care MSK Ultrasound guided procedures. We serve as the team physicians for the University of Incarnate Word and Our Lady of the Lake University athletics departments, as well as multiple local high schools. Fellows also cover multiple community events, including Golden Gloves Boxing and the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon! Didactic sessions are weekly and intended to be educational and collegial. Fellows will participate in scholarly projects, lectures to residents and medical students, community outreach, and have the opportunity to participate in longitudinal research.

In addition to the core rotations, our fellows spend time with MSK trained radiologists, sports physical therapists, orthopedic hand and orthopedic foot/ankle surgeons. CHRISTUS Health and the Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship are excited about our continued evolution. We are glad you have come here to find more information on our program and look forward to you joining our family!
