Labral Tears
The labrum is a piece of cartilage that surrounds the socket of your shoulder joint. A tear in the labrum can cause pain, weakness, and instability in your shoulder. Labral tears are often caused by repetitive overhead motions, such as those often used in sports like baseball, tennis, and swimming.
Rotator Cuff
Your rotator cuff is a mixture of muscles and tendons that keep your shoulder together. Common causes that can lead to a rotator cuff tear include aging, strenuous jobs on the body (construction, being an athlete, etc.), or family history (some people are more predisposed to tears due to genetics).
