What to Expect During Your ER Visit in Athens

At CHRISTUS Health in Athens, our emergency team is here around the clock to care for you and your family. From the moment you arrive, we focus on providing safe, timely, and compassionate treatment so you feel supported at every step.

Arrival & Triage

As soon as you walk in, you’ll be greeted and evaluated so we can determine the level of care you need. Patients facing serious or life-threatening conditions are brought straight back for immediate treatment, while those with less urgent concerns may be directed to a fast-track area for quicker care.

Registration & Screening

During check-in, we’ll ask about your medical history, medications, and contact information. This gives your providers the details they need to deliver the most effective and personalized treatment.

Testing & Evaluation

Some visits may require lab work or imaging studies. Results are typically ready within one to two hours, and our staff will keep you updated and as comfortable as possible while you wait.

Before Discharge

When it’s time to leave, your provider will go over your diagnosis, explain the treatment plan, and answer your questions. If necessary, we’ll also share your information with your primary care physician and confirm your contact details to ensure proper follow-up.
