Program Description
The CHRISTUS St. Vincent Physician Leadership Program is designed to meet the needs of our organization through growing strong physician leadership talent. Using the 5 Behaviors of Effective Teams as the guiding model, this program consists of four in-person sessions as described below.
Session 1: Friday, October 13, 2023
Understanding Yourself and Others – To build a strong foundation of trust, physician leaders first gain insight into their own working styles, strengths, and growth opportunities. Using the DiSC Workplace assessment, participants better understand their own work preferences and how they can relate more effectively with diverse colleagues.
Session 2: Friday, January 12, 2024
Trust as the Foundation of a High-Performing Team – During this session, participants will learn about the theory and research of psychological safety and why it is important for high-performing healthcare teams. Participants will identify leadership behaviors they can implement to create a psychologically safe environment.
Session 3: Friday, April 19, 2024
Effective Communication – Built on the foundation of trust, established in the first two sessions, this session will focus on helping physician leaders communicate in ways that encourage dialogue and commitment among colleagues. Specifically, we will focus on communication in two areas: (1) leading high-impact team meetings – ensuring everyone feels that they can contribute and their voice heard; and (2) giving effective just-in-time feedback.
Session 4: Friday, July 12, 2024
Increasing Accountability – During this final session of the program, we will focus on how accountability is critical to accomplishing strategic goals. We will also spend time discussing how to provide accountability for low-performing physician colleagues in partnership with human resources.
