Rivers comes to CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels from Fredericksburg, Texas, bringing more than 30 years of extensive nursing, health care and leadership experience.

Canyon Lake Paramedic Austin Childers Selected as “Hero of the Quarter” by CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital – New Braunfels

New Braunfels is pleased to announce our first “Hero of the Quarter” of 2021. This recognition will go to a local member of law enforcement, the fire department or EMS who exhibits extraordinary compassion, lifesaving measures and dedication to improving health care in our community. After receiving several nominations from the public, Canyon Lake Fire Department paramedic Austin Childers was the recipient of this “Hero of the Quarter” award.

Having a stroke was the furthest thing from Crystal's mind as she worked her shift at CHRISTUS Santa Rosa Hospital - Westover Hills last fall. As a registered nurse, Crystal is more accustomed to providing emergency care than receiving it. She was quickly thrust into the patient role, however, when a two-day headache escalated into other stroke-related symptoms.
