The Neuroscience Institute’s board-certified, fellowship-trained neuromuscular medicine subspecialists are committed to improving the quality of life of people with neuromuscular diseases. Respected for their comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach, our physicians are experts in the evaluation and management of complex neuromuscular diseases known to be difficult to diagnose and treat.
Advanced care and technology
State-of-the-art technology and advanced diagnostic testing techniques enable our specialists to design personalized treatment plans based on each patient’s lifestyle, goals and physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Although our patients are typically adults age 18 and older, we also provide specialized pediatric neuromuscular care.
Neuromuscular diseases are complex disorders affecting the nerves that allow you to control your voluntary muscles. Your nerve cells, also called neurons, transmit messages to the muscles. When neurons break down, become unhealthy or die, communication between your nervous system and muscles is disrupted, causing muscles to weaken and waste away. Cramps, muscle twitching, pain, joint problems and movement problems can result.
Comprehensive neuromusclar care
Many neuromuscular diseases are genetic. Others are caused by immune system disorders. Because most have no cure, our treatment goal is to improve symptoms, increase mobility and lengthen life.
We treat the following conditions:
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Chronic demyelinating inflammatory polyneuropathy (CIDP)
- Guillain-Barré syndrome
- Muscular dystrophy
- Myasthenia gravis (MG)
- Peripheral neuropathies
- Facet Syndrome
