Dr. Gladue is a retired Executive Vice President for Research and Innovation at UNTHSC. He had previously served as Associate Vice President for Research Administration, Executive Director of the Office of Research Compliance at UNTHSC, and Founding Executive Director of the North Texas Regional Institutional Review Board (NTR-IRB). He also served as Chairman of the Institutional Review Board (IRB) for UNTHSC (2007-2013) and has over 30 years of experience in human subject research, both as an investigator and as an IRB member. He currently serves as the CHRISTUS Health System IRB Chair. He has previously chaired IRBs in North Dakota (ND State University), Ohio (University of Cincinnati), and Texas (Methodist Health System-Dallas). He was also the founding Director of the Office for the Protection of Human Subjects (OPHS) at the University of North Texas Health Science Center (UNTHSC, Fort Worth). Dr. Gladue has a background in Biology (BA, Northeastern University), Zoology (PhD, Michigan State University) and Psychiatry and Behavioral Science (SUNY - Stony Brook). He has held faculty appointments in Biology and Psychology departments and served as a science policy analyst and advocate (Senior Scientist) for the American Psychological Association (Washington, DC).

Dr. Gladue has overseen scores of journal articles and chapters in peer-reviewed publications and books; hundreds of presentations to professional societies and associations and has been Principal Investigator and Co-Investigator on research awards, grants and contracts totaling over $3 million from various Federal, State and Private Foundation agencies (NIH, NSF, ND, OH, Guggenheim Foundation, Anthem Foundation). He continues to serve on private and university grant review boards and panels, holds scholarly awards for research, and served on the Editorial Board for Archives of Sexual Behavior.

In his spare time, Brian is a licensed pilot, a self-taught artist and guitarist, an avid supporter of the U.S. Constitution, a wine enthusiast, and strives to be a regular contributor to the everyday joy of life for several people.
