Robotic Surgery

Robotics Surgery

Robotics surgery is a type of minimally-invasive surgical procedure that relies on computer-assisted technology to give surgeons greater precision, accuracy, and control during the operation.

The robotic system allows surgeons to perform complex operations through only a few tiny incisions in the patient’s body. With robotics surgery, patients may experience less pain and scarring and less risk of infection, as well as a shorter recovery time.

The surgeon operates the robotic-assisted device from a console in the operating room, allowing them to view 3D images of the patient’s anatomy. A specialized computer program can be used to control the robotic arms for precise movements.

Robotic surgery is also known as robot-assisted surgery or computer-assisted surgery.

Neurosurgery

Robot-assisted neurosurgery is used for a variety of conditions, including brain tumors, aneurysms, hydrocephalus, epilepsy, and other disorders of the spine and central nervous system.

The use of robotics in neurosurgery allows doctors to perform intricate maneuvers involving multiple planes that would otherwise be difficult or impossible with the human hand.

Orthopedics

In orthopedic surgery, robot-assisted procedures can be used for both reconstructive and minimally invasive procedures involving torn ligaments or tendons with sutures and tiny anchors.

Robots can be used for joint replacement surgeries, such as hip, and knee replacements, complex spinal surgeries, scoliosis correction, microscopic lumbar decompression, and more.

Gynecology

Robotic surgery can be used for a variety of gynecologic procedures, including hysterectomy (removal of the uterus), myomectomy (removal of uterine fibroids), endometriosis excision, ovarian cystectomy, tubal ligation and pelvic reconstructive surgery.

Bariatric

Robotic surgery is increasingly being used in bariatric procedures such as sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, and duodenal switch.

Robotic bariatric surgery allows surgeons to perform complex procedures with increased precision and accuracy while decreasing the risk of complications. For example, robotic gastric bypass surgery can reduce the risk of internal bleeding by more precisely controlling how the stomach is cut.

General Surgery

Robotic surgery is used in general surgery to perform a wide variety of procedures, including hernia repair, gallbladder removal, bariatric (weight loss) surgery, colectomy (removal of part or all of the colon), lung resection (removal of part of the lung, and gastrectomy (removal of part or all of the stomach).

Also, this type of approach can be used for a variety of general surgical operations, including ablation (removal of tumors), biopsies, resection (removal) of cancer, and repair of abdominal hernias.
