Our Mission

The CHRISTUS Gerald Champion Foundation stands with our hospital to continue providing exceptional healthcare close to home. We support caring for our families and friends in our community. The CHRISTUS Gerald Champion Foundation is committed to continuing to take health care to the next level of excellence, providing opportunities to our community to pursue an education and careers in the healthcare field, and supporting local charities and causes.

Our History

CHRISTUS Gerald Champion Foundation was founded on September 3, 1985. The mission of the foundation at that time was to support community members seeking health care careers. Physicians, midwives and nurses have been the recipients of the foundation’s scholarships.

During challenging times, the foundation has been a resource to support the needs of the hospital and NMSU-A. Each year the foundation continues to support students through their college careers as well as adding new students.

For the 2021 school year, the foundation will be disbursing $49,000 in local health care scholarships. 24 students are receiving support and 19 of the 24 students are new recipients.

The uncertainties of health care have prompted the foundation to take a greater role in supporting the continued growth of the hospital. All hospitals are facing challenging futures with the desire to bring the best health care to their community while seeing a decrease in reimbursement for quality patient care.

How to Donate

The Foundation has always accepted donations; however, charitable support is more essential than ever as we move forward. No donation is too small, and all proceeds support the various programs and events organized by the foundation.

The CHRISTUS Gerald Champion Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. CHRISTUS Health provides many services to the community that are provided at no cost. Gifts to the foundation are tax-deductible and utilized to support the mission of the organization.
