About CHRISTUS St. Michael

100 Years of Healing

Read Our Stories
At CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System, our mission is to “extend the healing ministry of Jesus Christ,” by providing quality, compassionate care to all. Established in 1916 by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word as a Catholic, non-profit hospital, we offer a full scope of expansive health care services including women’s health, emergency services, senior health, cancer care, heart care, surgery, imaging, rehabilitation, and much more.

We strive to provide continuous, compassionate care for our patients and their families, always looking for ways to incorporate the latest best practices and new technology into our services. This is demonstrated through our accreditation by The Joint Commission, recognition as a NICHE hospital, our affiliation with the Cleveland Clinic, and numerous awards and recognitions.

We are honored to serve the four-states region of Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Louisiana through our two primary campuses in Texarkana and Atlanta. We know you have a choice when it comes to choosing quality health care for your family.

For over 100 years, charitable support from the community has made an incredible impact on both CHRISTUS St. Michael Hospital and local families.

It was a late summer evening in 1916 when Phillip Brooks found his way into a boiler room of a building in Texarkana. As a transient, he had no job, no money, no ties to the community.

CHRISTUS St. Michael Health System will award health and wellness grants totaling $30,000 to 24 area Texas schools at a luncheon on June 26. Schools receiving grants have participated in the free Mobile Pediatric Asthma Program for school-aged children during the 2017-2018 school term from Sept. 1, 2017 through May 30, 2018.
