CHRISTUS Children's

Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Clinic

CHRISTUS Children's

The Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation Outpatient Clinic at CHRISTUS Children's helps children and their families with medication management, durable medical equipment, gait problems, and conditions related to spasticity.

We specialize in Intrathecal Baclofen Therapy for patients with conditions that cause stiffness of muscles and joints, involuntary movement, jerkiness, muscle movement and exaggerated reflexes. These conditions include cerebral palsy, brain injury and spinal cord injury. In addition, some patients may benefit from botulinum toxin injections or phenol injections.

Doctors specializing in pediatric physical medicine and rehabilitation oversee patient care in a eight-bed unit. The length of a child’s stay is determined by their needs, ability to participate in therapy and ability to reach their ultimate goal of returning home.

While in the hospital, patients will benefit from being inside San Antonio’s only free-standing children’s hospital. Therapy areas include gyms, a kitchen, and play rooms, plus indoor and outdoor play areas. In addition, a team focused on the health and well-being of your child is available to provide additional treatment and care as needed including audiologists, orthopedic specialists, neurologists, respiratory therapists, social workers, radiologists, lab technicians, dietitians and much more.

If this is a medical emergency, please dial 911

Note: A representative from CHRISTUS Children's will contact you via a phone call between 8:30am and 5:00pm CDT to help you schedule an appointment.
