Our 13-bed pediatric inpatient unit at the hospital cares for children from birth to 18 years of age. Our physicians, nurses, therapists, social workers, and support staff offer young patients and their families integrated medical care in a family friendly environment. We recognize parents want to be close to their children when they are ill. In most cases, parents can spend the night alongside their child or in a nearby parent room.
Our pediatric unit includes a 24-hour monitoring system that allows both bedside and nursing station monitoring of our patients. All our pediatric nurses are certified pediatric nurses (C-PNs) or registered nurses (RNs) and have both pediatric-advanced-life-support (PALS) and neo-natal resuscitation program certification (NRP). Additionally some nurses have emergency-nurse-provider-course (ENPC) certification.
To help serve the pediatric unit, CHRISTUS St. Vincent has a Pediatric Hospitalist program in place which includes Pediatricians on call 24 hours in the hospital.
